board CITI HOPAS at your risk: police warns
Police warn residents against city firm buses
Police have warned commuters against travelling in certain buses in Nairobi, saying they risked being robbed.
Inspector-General of Police David Kimaiyo said a
number of buses belonging to Citi Hoppa had been carjacked and the
drivers and conductors were suspected of colluding with the gangsters.
He said a bus belonging to the firm was carjacked in Nairobi every day and the management had refused to cooperate with police.
The IG posted a warning on his official Facebook
page. “Citi Hoppa will be withdrawn from the roads because they carry at
least two criminals in the morning and evening, thus commuters are
hijacked and robbed,” he said.
Earlier, Nairobi police chief Benson Kibui had
asked the firm’s managers to come to Buruburu police station following a
carjacking on Thursday.
The full bus left the city at 8pm but stopped on
Jogoo Road and picked up seven men who turned out to be robbers. “Three
passengers were injured by the carjackers who drove the bus to Githogoro
slums. They dumped them there after robbing them,” said Mr Kibui.
Citi Hoppa operations manager Githaiga Weru denied
the claims. “We attended the meeting at Buruburu police station where
17 matatu saccos and bus companies were represented and were all
complaining about their vehicles being carjacked. Why should police pick
on us?” he asked.
On claims that the firm had defied orders to frisk
passengers on boarding, Mr Weru said: “All our bus stops are manned by
uniformed crew carrying metal detectors.”

Find out why you became a victim of circumstances " what women can DO''.
I sit at the table with some of my close friends as we sip down a drink, stories are about women, money cars and football, sometimes i wonder why do we keep on talking about this same topics day in day out, then i realized that is the only consolation for their frustrations, after some few tots down the throat thats the time men open up their heart to their trusted friends, '' sorry guys for the last two weeks i could not be with guys since i was going through some serious dramas with my chic, he pauses, guys i really love this chic but some of the things she want me to offer i cannot my hands are tied, my resources are so limited and i wish i could just prove to this lady that i have a bright future so that she can stop going out with Omondi, i hate when she tries to compare me with her friend Omondi, if i had an opportunity i will rob the central bank just to give this woman the money she wants. Ever since i met this women i have so many debts, am indebted to almost everyone of you in this room, i even had to take a loan to maintain her at some point, but all my efforts are proving futile since she has given me an ultimatum to provide all her requirements before end of month or she leaves me, and am not ready to lose this lady, guys yes you see me laughing but inside am broken, she also told me to stop hanging out with you guys because you not rich enough to be her type, guys help me am planning some serious things that might land me in jail just to prove how much i love this woman."
"Stop there boni, Ezekiel interrupts, at least you are planning i have already done something that if i tell you guys you all will stop calling me your friend, am really feeling guilty, i had to chase my sister out of my house since my girlfriend din't like her, now my sister is living with a friend in kibra and i know she is suffering, i used to be a favourite in the family but now am regarded as a blackship of the family with my mother and dad both cursing me, when you guys came at my place i lied to you people that my sister went home, now she wants us to move out of that house to a better gated community house and i dont have that kind of money to sustain her there. when i see women complain about men i always ask myself where are those type of women, am dying here to have a woman who will take me as i am, but on the other hand am foolishly in love with this woman.
the stories goes on and everyone confesses until this one came on board and i realised men are really suffering from inside, "I had to take up another part time job for me to sustain my life, her life and my ailing mother who is suffering from cancer, but whenever i want to send my mother some cash she has to reccommend how much, or sometime she just refuses and tells me she needs some cash for the salon, your mother's condition is way beyond repair and we are just wasting cash on her, she will die any soon, instead of arranging for her funeral you wasting money by sending her, she said,'' everyone was in shock.
but i came to realise that we chose very wrong battle to struggle with it and we fall victims of circumstances, am sorry to say that our beautiful ladies end up on the streets not because they are poor but because of the curses they get from some families and from men, if you punish me on this earth just know that you are not far away from receiving your own portion men are not super-natural human being they are just like you be wise in your decisions and sometimes have mercy on the us as the lord always have mercy on our sins.
LOVE AND MONEY SHOULD BE DEFINED in a relationship............

Why i had to call it "QUITS".
sometimes we are quick to point fingers at our friends once we realize that they have made some drastic changes / measures in life, to some level change is termed as ''inevitable," to others change is just as simple as ":rest," why do i describe it so..?? if you ask me i will tell you i dont know becaouse this are some terms we grew up relating them to change whoever came up with such phrases knows better..!!
Change comes with its on consequences either positive or negative depending on the nature of change, some of us find it so hard to adopt this change due to the fear of the unknown,"risks," but in real life one has to take some serious risks to make seriuos changes, God created us all in his on Image if you call me "ugly" you are simply abusing God and i will simply say "Amen" to that and move on but for others, get so much offended.
take this as a consolation to your frustrations "you are such an innocent creature until the world shows you its real two sides," from there change start shaping up your life, you want to slim up your body just to fit in certain society, you want to build your body to attract women, you paint up your face just to attract attention, lastly you wear revealing cloths just to show the world what you have and in return get more attention, this are just but a few common exampls we see in our day to day life, what we forget is the aftermath of our actions, after getting all this attention how am i going to maintain it to that level..?? after trying to pull up all this fake celebrity stands how am i going to keep my fans together,...? and many more questions we get all day long.
Now the realty of life hits, you need money to maintain your image, you need serious friends to support you in your "fake" life and if its fake then your friends must also be fake for you to merge.
Most human being hate being told the truth yeah, the truth is so bitter i camme to realise that.. but sometime its good to say the truth and a shame the devil, we depend more on lies and end up struggling the rest of our entire pathetic life and in the due process we forget that their is God who send his only begotten son to come and die on the cross for our sins.
we have compromised everything to look relevant so as to suit our frustrations, nowadays raping an elderly sounds funny, same applies to bestial sex, instead of condemning the act we make fan out of it to look relevant. our ancestors lived a better life than what we living though we have digitalised everything still we struggle to survive.
" I think i cannot sustain your lavish, extravagant fake life, you depend on my pocket for your floss-mode, you want to take your friends out on my pocket, you dont have a job thats why you need to study hard in school, as i wake up at 5am to prepare to go to work that's your time to stretch up in my duvet and start dreaming on the next lies you will tell your friends, you are such a pathetic cook thats why i preffer my sister in the kitchen, i need a more serious woman, i mean seriuos with life," those are just some of the reasons i had to call it QUIT am sorry but your are not just the real deal but a package full of fake deals, i will miss your drama sadly thats the only good thing about you. Good bye EX

Nigerian lender to buy 70 pc stake in Kenya's Fina bank
Nigeria's Guaranty Trust Bank (GT Bank) said on
Thursday it had reached an agreement to acquire a 70 per cent stake in
Kenya's Fina Bank Limited for $100 million.
Fina Bank has total assets of
$338 million with operations in Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda, a GT Bank
statement said, adding that its agreement to acquire the privately-held
Kenyan bank is subject to regulatory approvals.
"GT Bank will enter East Africa
through a multi-country and scalable platform, thus expanding its
international presence in Sub-Saharan Africa," the Nigerian lender said.
Shares in GT Bank which has
gained 13 per cent since the start of the year, inched up 1.66 per cent
to 26.40 naira per share on Thursday, valuing the lender at around $5
billion.
The top-tier bank said it will
acquire the majority stake in Fina Bank, set up in 1991, through a share
purchase from current shareholders and direct investment.
Chief executive Segun Agbaje has
said GT Bank was eyeing expansion opportunities in East Africa after
building out operations in West Africa to tap into the regions fast
growing economies and ease of doing business.
Fina Bank has $184 million loan book as at 31 March, 2013 and operates from 38 branches across three East African nations.
Fina Bank said it was looking for additional capital to fund its growth plans.
The bank has also changed its
top management appointing Rajesh Kapoor to replace managing director
Bhaskar Ghose, who left after being at the helm of the institution since
July 2011.
Rajesh Kapoor joined Fina Bank
in 2011 as an executive director in business support from State Bank of
India where he was a general manager.
Jacob Kaimenyi directs schools be re-opened
Updated Friday, July 19th 2013 at 12:12 GMT +3 By PSCU
Nairobi, Kenya: Education Cabinet Secreaty Jacob Kaimenyi has announced that all public primary schools be re-opened on Monday next week.
Wednesday, the cabinet secretary ordered an indefinite closure of schools following the over three-week teachers' strike.
Noting that the teachers’ strike disrupted learning activities, Kaimenyi said that the government will look into ways of filling up the time lost.
"We take note with concern that the teachers’ strike disrupted learning activities for three weeks.
"Government will hold a key stakeholders meeting on Tuesday 23 July 2013 in order to agree on how to redress the matter expeditiously," he added.
In a statement, the secretary said that the government is committed to ensuring that there are no further disruptions to the schools calendar adding that KCPE and KCSE examinations will be held on schedule.
USIU students develop an edutainment application for kids
The Noun Hero is an application that promotes educational games for children between 4 to 13 years to help students grasp basic concepts taught in school. The learning application was created by second year students – Juzer Yunus, an International Business Administration Major and Kevin Hungai, an Applied Computer Technology Major – and has proved to increase understanding of basic Mathematics and English concepts in children who tested the game.
The two partners founded Savana Media, a start-up that aims to promote a world where boredom does not prevent learning. They attribute some of their success to the guidance and support they have received through USIU’s New Economic Venture Accelerator- Africa program.
“Start a business, fail fast, gain experience and learn even faster. Think local but produce international quality,” Hungai said.
Kevin and Juzer advocate for more incubation centers in Kenya and challenge the government to invest and support local products that could help develop the economy even further especially against a backdrop of increased youth unemployment.
“The youth and students need a place to develop their ideas, get advice and to experiment,” says Juzer.
While the application is still at the prototype stage, the company’s goal is to seek partners to further develop it into a fully functional application, to acquire the necessary approvals and to test it in a number of schools, universities and in local companies for simulations through games.
Kiraitu seeks State help on UK miraa ban

A senator wants to know if the government will
help miraa farmers file a case in the UK in a bid to lift a ban imposed
on the herb.
Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi termed the UK ban on miraa illegal, saying there was no scientific proof that it was harmful.
Mr Murungi tabled a July 2011 report of the UK
Home Office, which he said, cleared miraa of any harmful effects
associated with narcotics.
Driven into poverty
“What is the government doing to protect the miraa
farmers in Meru whose economy is on the verge of collapse and who are
going to be driven into poverty?” posed Mr Murungi.
The senator added that the miraa farmers were
planning to sue the British government over the ban, which has grossly
affected their business and livelihood.
He said Kenya’s laws were very clear that miraa
was not a drug. “Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act is the
law governing drugs. Miraa is not among those drugs,” said Mr Murungi.
Mr Yusuf Haji said the government was aware of the
threat posed by the ban, adding that the government will form a task
force to investigate the matter. (READ: Senators differ over UK ban on miraa)
