UHURU’s radio Kameme FM refers Raila as SHETANI and incites KIKUYU against LUO community.

Thursday July 25, 2013 - In what can be referred to as irresponsible journalism, a radio station associated with President Uhuru Kenyatta, Kameme FM, today aired a frightening talk which incited members of the Kikuyu community against the Luo community.

In the programme aired between 6 am and 10 am today, two journalists of the popular station, which broadcasts in Kikuyu language, turned to be purveyors of hate speech and exclusive politics when they referred former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, as Shetani (Devil) who should be stopped at any cost.

At one instance, the journalists of the popular Kikuyu radio that even retired President Mwai Kibaki listens to, urged members of the Kikuyu community to be “ready” in case ‘shetaniand his ‘loyal supporters’ bring an uprising.

This is a dangerous precedent being set and the concerned authorities including Communication Commission of Kenya (CCK) should move with speed and nip it in the bud lest we go the Rwanda way.

During the Rwandan genocide, hate on radio and music was used to incite violence and atrocities on a massive scale

Closer home, Kass FM  is alleged to have fueled hate speech during the 2007/2008 post election violence and journalist Joshua Sang has since been indicted by the  International Criminal Court and his trial commences in September.
